Working in the field

Working in the field

Every year three thousand humanitarian workers belonging to the various MSF sections work with another 22 thousand professionals who are hired locally in 65 countries worldwide. Their objective is to provide medical and humanitarian aid to vulnerable populations and victims of disasters and armed conflict.

In 2010, 200 new members of staff joined MSF Spain projects in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

We not only employ healthcare staff (doctors, nurses, surgeons, pharmacists, midwives, etc.), but also people from other fields (financial officers, administrators, human resources, logisticians, watsan, etc.). We also hire and promote people to coordination posts: heads of mission (country), medical coordinators, logistical coordinators and project coordinators.

Trabajadores en el terreno (2010)

Thank you for your interest in joining MSF.

If your application is successful you will join our staff pool and be assigned to one of our projects in Africa, Asia or Latin America, depending on your profile, availability and current vacancies. Coordinators will be based in the country capital. The project coordinator and all others will work in rural areas in each country. Please look at our field organisational chart for more information.

Before applying you should be sure that you really want to work and live in the field. Living conditions are basic and at times rudimentary, and the work will always be challenging in both quantity and quality. You will be asked to observe certain security rules and your freedom of movement may sometimes be restricted.

You will work with people from different countries and cultures and at times you will share your living and working space. It is important to bear in mind that project situations and even your job can suddenly change, which make flexibility and adaptability vital.

We are looking for qualified people with work experience. Candidates must speak fluent English and preferably French also.

Médecins sans Frontières provides equal opportunities for men and women.

If you would like to work for MSF in the field and you meet all of the professional requisites, read the FAQs and send us your CV and cover letter (both in English).
