Who eats who?

Purpose of the song:

This song tells people who don’t believe in antiretroviral (ARV) drugs about their benefits. Some think the tablets don’t work because the virus ‘eats’ them, while others argue that the tablets ‘swallow’ the virus to neutralise it. In any event, the members of this group are the best way to show that ARV therapy works.

Lyrics:

Jimila:
Umuntu waginy’iphilisi / A person took some pills (ARV)
Umuntu wacwebezela / And his health got better

Kukhona ukuginya-ginyana / Swallow, just swallow
Asaz’okwaginy’okunye / It doesn’t matter who swallows who

Kukhona ukuginya-ginyana / Swallow, just swallow
Asaz’okwaginy’okunye / It doesn’t matter who swallows who

Umuntu waginy’iphilisi / A person took some pills (ARV)

Gciwane lalala phansi / And the virus was inactivated

Kukhona ukuginya-ginyana / Swallow, just swallow
Asaz’okwaginy’okunye / It doesn’t matter who swallows who
