The primary aim of logisticians on MSF missions and projects is to facilitate all of the material means needed to perform our medical and humanitarian work. Logisticians might be specialized in certain areas as supply chain, constructions, water and sanitation or be responsible for all of these areas.

The logistician is a key position for all MSF projects and entails a range of responsibilities that cover all the activities related to non-medical assistance. The logistician is in charge of the planning, coordination and supervision of all logistical activities.

Candidates must have technical knowledge and proven experience in at least three of the following areas:

  • Vehicle management
  • Energy and electricity
  • Information technologies
  • Supply chain
  • Telecomunications
  • Building and construction
  • Water, sanitation and hygiene

The logistician will often have to deal with the local authorities and other organisations. He/she is also resonsible for implementing the security protocols.

The ability to supervise and manage a large number of people is essential for this position. Experience in hiring, training and assessment of staff will be a big advantage.

Logisticians need to be practical (resourceful) and skilled in people management and problemsolving.

Ideal candidates will have a technical diploma or higher in enginerring and/or humanitarian logistics (eg Bioforce).


Essential requirements:

  • Diploma in the corresponding field.
  • At least two years’ work experience in this field.
  • Good level of English and French.
  • Availability of 12 months.


​Desired requirements:

  • Field experience with other NGOs.
  • Knowledge of Spanish, Portuguese or Arabic.

  • The gross basic salary is approximately €1,300 per month during first missions and for positions of lesser responsibility. The salary is regularly reviewed according to the length of time in the organisation and the experience acquired.

To a lesser extent, in some of our projects we need to incorporate professionals with extensive experience in some specific fields such as water and sanitation (watsan) or supply chain. We expect these specialists to be proactive and good at problem-solving. In addition, they will have to train their assistants. Among these specialists there are:

Supply logisticians: who are responsible for the correct implementation and management of the supply chain following the protocols of MSF Spain missions. They will be responsible for managing groups of up to five people.

Contruction logisticians: who are responsible for the construction work carried out in the projects. They will have to manage tender documents and contracts, supervise works and monitor and evaluate construction projects.

Watsan logisticians: who are responsible for all aspects concerning water and sanitation (watsan). These may include (but are not limited to) tasks such as water supply, waste management, hospital cleaning or hygiene promotion activities. They will be responsible for managing groups of up to five people.

Biomedical logisticians: who are responsible for the maintenance of medical equipment. Among other tasks, these logisticians are in charge of negotiating maintenance proposals and contracts and advising on the purchase of equipment.
